But the worst leakage came from the basement because the water was seeping through the walls and the ceiling…

The weight of the water blew through the ceiling, leaving a crater from the first-floor living room to the basement that looked like a small bomb had gone off.

Our entire pantry was completely flooded.

All the veggies, fruits, and canned food…

All of our emergency supplies.

Everything I worked so hard to hoard was gone.

And as the storm got worse… so did the flooding.

Our stockpile was gone… and our house became a cold, dark swimming pool.

I went upstairs to check on Laura and Adam…

And found them hugging and huddling trying to warm each other…

Their lips almost turned whimpering blue as they were shivering from the cold.

My wife didn't say it but I saw the look of “Honey, do something…” in her eyes.

Believe me, there's nothing more shameful to a man than saying “sorry, there's nothing I can do”

If you have a family, I'm sure you can imagine how horrible I felt…

I felt drowned in this feeling of complete and utter hopelessness…

I was so embarrassed.

Because I couldn't do anything to help the people I care about the most in this world.

When I looked at my only child and saw how he was shivering from the freezing cold…

Trying to warm himself with a blanket…

How my wife was trying to hold him close to her and huddle him…

I rushed to them and held them tightly close to me…

We soldiered through that horrible night together but deep inside, I felt ashamed…

I felt angry at myself for letting my loved ones go through such a biting cold and suffer like this.

This was my family and I was supposed to protect them…

I promised myself that I'd never let them go through a blackout like this ever again.

When the storm finally calmed down at daybreak…

I thanked God because things could've been worse… and as long as my family was unharmed… anything else can be replaced.

But I couldn't help but think about how lucky we were…

I felt like we dodged a bullet because if the storm lasted a couple more hours…

My family could've frozen to death.

Then it struck me…

What if the next time the power went out… and stayed out for months or years?

Would I have to leave my house and let my family be at the mercy of FEMA camps?

I remembered hurricane Katrina…

People were hungry, thirsty… suffering in the scorching heat, and FEMA was ineffective to handle the crisis.

I felt like what happened was a wake-up call for me…

And these blackouts are a sign of something big that's coming…

I wanted to know, could this get worse!

So I fired up my computer and got to work like a man possessed…

What I found in my research was both terrifying and shocking…

Look, It's not a secret that America's power grid is embarrassingly vulnerable…

But what most people don't realize…

Is that it's much more vulnerable than you could possibly imagine…

Especially electrical substations…

You see, substations are not some ordinary pieces of equipment…

They are the heart of our power grid…

The substation that the snipers targeted wasn't a regular substation…

It was one of the most critical ones in the country…

It funnels power to Silicon Valley…

And if those snipers had succeeded and finished their mission…

The lives of millions of families would've been completely wrecked…

Not to mention what the attack would've done to our economy…

Because whether we like it or not…

Silicon Valley is the catalyst for the tech industry and hundreds of thousands of jobs all over

America. And if it went down, trillions of dollars could've been lost…

But that's not the end of it…

Another dreadful risk the Metcalf incident stirred up was the threat of physical attacks on the grid…

The attack gave our nation's enemies a playbook for how to quickly and easily cripple America…

In 2016 an eco-terrorist in Utah shot up a large transformer triggering a blackout…

He said he'd plan to hit five substations in one day…

To shut down the west coast and plunge millions into darkness.

In 2020 the FBI uncovered a terrorist plot called “lights out”

They planned to simultaneously destroy substations around the country causing a series of long term devastating blackouts…

Think about it… It only takes one or a group of fanatics to destroy just a handful of the critical substations…

And the power grid would be completely dismantled for at least 12 months…

Because it's not easy to replace these substations…

There are no US manufacturers that build them…

We have to buy them from India and South Korea…

And It takes up to a year and a half to get one of those delivered…

Because they're so heavy they need a special permit from the government to transport them.

And that's not the only threat the Metcalf incident ignited…

America is also in great danger for another big reason.

The Metcalf assault ripped up the curtains and made our nation's enemies…

…realize that it wouldn't take a nuclear bomb to dethrone America…

They could just organize an Al Qaeda-style attack on these substations…

And power shutdowns will cascade like dominos, leaving 300 million Americans in frightening darkness…

Energy secretary Jennifer Granholm admitted on national TV…

That our adversaries are capable of shutting down the US power grid…

You could argue that there are 55 thousand substations in America…

And that there is no need to panic…

Because It's impossible to destroy that many substations. Right? Well, unfortunately, that's not necessarily the case…

And the truth is nothing short of terrifying …

A report was leaked to the Wall Street Journal in late 2013…

Found that out of the country's 55,000 electrical substations…

An attack on a handful of these substations could cause a coast-to-coast blackout …

How many exactly?

Just 9.

And according to John Wellinghoff, the former chairman of FERC, it wouldn't take an army to dismantle the grid…

A small number of people with fairly unsophisticated weapons can target 9 substations and the whole could be down for months if not more…

Around the world, there have been a fair number of attacks on grids…

Like in Ukraine, Yemen, and Iraq…

Where they have attacked with Bombs and drones…

But also in first world countries like Canada…

Where a pilot crippled Québec's power grid…

Yet again…

I know what you are thinking ...

"Just because it happened in other countries it doesn't mean it can happen here, right"?

Well, guess what!

The DHS issued a public warning back in January…

Declaring that domestic terrorists have developed a plan that mimicked the Metcalf substation attack…

With the sole goal of taking down the power grid…

And despite the chaos and the blackouts that come with the collapse of the power grid…

All these warnings are just not scary enough for governments to take the necessary action…

And let's be honest, our government is terrible at listening to warnings about disasters…

Simply because disaster preparedness doesn't win elections.

So I'm under no delusions here.

And I know that the vast majority of Americans will fail to heed this warning and fail to get ready for this crisis.

I sincerely hope — for your family's sake — that you are not one of them.

Because the precautions required to weather the coming tempest are not difficult.

And even if the crisis turns out to be less severe than I fear it may be, the worst that'll happen is that you'll sleep better at night knowing that no matter what happens…

…your family is going to be warm, well-fed, and safe…

Especially since you still have some time — but not much — to prepare.

If you take action right away, you will save your family and be able to provide for them and protect them in the coming dark times.

First, you need to prepare your defenses: If you count on the government for anything, you'll need to plan to live without it.

As we've seen, all levels of government — federal, state and local — couldn't properly handle food, and water shortages in the major crisis that happened to us before.

That means you'll need a plan for getting by on your own — without help from FEMA, or other government programs.

Second, buying and stockpiling insane amounts of food is risky in a long-term crisis like the one that's about to unfold soon…

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you shouldn't stockpile some food and water for the sake of your family…

What I'm simply saying is that it's a short-term survival strategy…

What I'm saying is that in a long-term grid-down situation that lasts for many months or years.

Your supplies aren't going to last forever.

Because no matter how much food and water you stored for times of crisis…

At some point, you'll run out… And you'll have to get your hands on some more for your family…

Even if you have decades worth of food thinking that it's enough to survive…

It's very possible that it could be stolen... or even confiscated by the government to "redistribute" to those who failed to prepare.

But by then, grocery stores will be swept clean…

And because there's no electricity to run gas pumps…

Trucks won't be able to deliver food to grocery stores…

Which means major food chain disruptions all over the country.

Not to mention, the natural gas and water could potentially stop flowing because the pumping stations run on electricity…

Depending on the season… How are you going to help your family get through the sweltering heat or the onslaught of cold weather?

I'm not a handy person, is this program still for me?

Yes when I was creating the program, my goal was to make the survival upgrades very beginner friendly with clear diagrams and step-by-step instructions. It doesn't use any DIY lingo so it's not reserved for elite handymen.

Even if you're faced with a more difficult upgrade in this program, there's nearly always an easier alternative in the same section.

For example, if the improvised generator made from car parts is a bit too complicated, then I'd advise to start with the wind turbine or the water wheel.
